The Purgatoire Watershed Partnership (PWP) is a local non-profit whose focus is supporting collaborative watershed health projects. We do this by engaging with all stakeholders, such as the agricultural community, recreation enthusiasts, educators, land management organizations and others to identify management priorities and find realistic, workable solutions to watershed health concerns.

What does the PWP do?

PWP has worked on a variety of different projects throughout the Purgatoire Watershed. Most notably, PWP was integral in creating the Purgatoire River Watershed Plan, a guiding document that identifies issues and strategies throughout the watershed. PWP is currently engaged in wildland fire mitigation projects, water quality data collection, invasive species management, and education and outreach to our schools and community.

What is a watershed?

A watershed is an area of land in which all water drains to a common outlet. The Purgatoire Watershed is the area of land where the water eventually finds its way into the Purgatoire River. Click here to learn more about how a watershed functions>>
